Craft Apprenticeship

What does a Craft Apprenticeship involve at Fabrinet UK?

Our Craft Apprenticeship will enable you to gain knowledge and skills that will support your work within our manufacturing team. As well as “hands on” training on the shopfloor you will also be trained in our Training Academy in certified IPC courses in soldering (J-STD-001 CIS), Inspection (IPC-A-610 CIS) and specialist rework/repair (IPC-7711/21 CIS). You will also study for an NVQ in Performing Manufacturing Operations through Wiltshire College and the Craft Apprenticeship training is completed within 2 years

Through our Training Academy you will be trained in printed circuit board assembly, including:-

  • Identification of through hole component values
  • Soldering (IPC level 3 standard)
  • Reading of engineering drawings, Bill of Materials and work instructions
  • Self-inspection to ensure quality product manufactured to customer specification at all times
  • Testing of Printed Circuit Board Assemblies (PCBAs)
  • Final inspection of PCBAs

Longer term career opportunities are to specialise in highly skilled Manufacturing Technician role, Test Technician role or you could develop within production management into a Team Leader. For people with the right attitude, who are hardworking and ambitious there are lots of opportunities

What are the entry requirements?

You should have, or be expecting, a minimum of five GCSE or equivalent at grade C or above, including Maths, English, Science and/or Technology. Other relevant higher level qualifications such as ‘A’ levels, NVQs and Diplomas may also be relevant

The ideal candidates will also have the following key skills-:

  • Good attention to detail
  • Excellent problem solving skills with a methodical and logical approach
  • Good communication skills both verbal and written
  • Good Team worker
  • Good IT skills including Microsoft Office applications

Salary: In excess of the minimum Apprenticeship pay rate and an excellent benefits package

Working hours:  Monday – Thursday 8.00 am – 4.30 pm and Friday 8.00 am – 1.30 pm
